Their defensive driving course is super popular with young drivers. Finishing it can knock up to six months off your restricted license wait. Seniors aged 74 and up can also get a free coaching session every two years, so they can keep their skills sharp.

Moreover, their instructors use dual-controlled cars and even offer practice driving tests to help you relax before the real exam.

A client we spoke to shared that her instructor set out a clear training plan right from the first lesson, which helped her feel more confident. 

However, they have a strict 14-day cancellation policy for refunds and a 60-day window to complete practical sessions after the classroom course.

AA Driving school Westgate -I definately enjoyed the Defensive driving course. The tools I needed to be a responsible and better driver. The course Tutor Mrs Patel made it enjoyable. She’s done an awesome job teaching the twenty students who come from all walks of life and different ages as well.

They really put a lot of focus on making students feel comfortable and safe. That’s because you can pick if you want a male or female instructor, which many people say helps ease their nerves about driving for the first time. 

All their cars have active CCTV recording, too, so there’s extra peace of mind for both you and the NZTA-certified instructor during lessons. Plus, they make things easier by offering door-to-door pickup!

Just note that they don’t cover the North Shore area, and if you need heavy truck training, you’ll be sent to another company for that.

Trinity Driving School is a great option for total beginners and drivers who just want a refresher. A friend who tried them out said he really appreciated how his NZTA-approved instructor adjusted the lesson pace just for him. 

The school focuses on building good habits, with weekly sessions so you remember what you learn. You can save money with their prepaid packages, too, which really helps if you’ve just spent cash on an auto detailing service. 

There are even instructor discretion discounts if you ask. 

The only downside is their small team. We’ve learned they only have one approved instructor, so be prepared for possible longer waits when booking.

They also run mock driving tests that help you get used to the real exam.

The biggest downside is their highly restricted schedule for defensive driving courses. They only offer these specific classes at their Henderson and Meadowbank locations on Monday and Wednesday evenings. 

They also restrict their $20 course discount strictly to existing clients.
