Exceptional, high quality facility with the best Trackman technology and virtual golf. Easy to get set up first time there and Jarred and Ben both on hand to provide any assistance needed. My golf game has definitely improved all round

Fantastic venue with start of the art golf simulators, really friendly crew who look after everyone very well and are on hand to patiently explain how all the technology works. I’d never tried simulator golf before and joined on the spot! Have been using most days and can’t recommend highly enough. Have been playing famous golf courses all round the world on the screen (Pebble Beach, Pinehurst, Wentworth) which is amazing. Also had a couple of lessons with Jared and he was great. My golf game has definitely improved all round. Check it out.

Russley Golf Club offers a championship layout that helps players focus better on their short game.

From what I’ve seen, the club’s PGA-certified coaches tailor lessons to each player’s skill level, making everything clear and easy to follow. Practice areas like chipping and putting greens quickly highlight areas that need improvement.

Beyond the coaching and practice facilities, the club also offers beginner-friendly programs, including women’s coaching groups that help new players build confidence and feel more welcome on the course.

However, some facilities feel outdated, especially the changing rooms. The golf carts also show visible wear, which slightly affects comfort.

Even so, the quality of the coaching is the main reason the experience still feels valuable and effective overall.

Making for an enjoyable and challenging game

Had a fantastic round at Russley Golf Club. The course is beautifully designed and well laid out, making for an enjoyable and challenging game. The warm-up area was excellent, with a dedicated putting green, separate chipping green, grass practice range, and driving bays. Great facilities and a great experience overall—highly recommend!

Good place to play golf and learn the basics. Found out golf is a gentlemans course due to the walking. Need good shoes to walk here, we did 10 holes and covered 8 km. Some are challenging and fun, we played a social form of golf where you use the best hit in your team. Well maintained course and facilities.

When you practice at Clearwater Golf Club, it immediately feels like you’re in a high-level tournament environment. In particular, their championship course makes each practice session feel competitive and helps you stay focused while training.

Another highlight is the coaching and club fitting system. If your equipment needs adjusting, they take care of it quickly so it doesn’t affect your performance.

Visitors can also get coaching without needing a full membership, which is great for people who only play occasionally. 

Overall, their setup feels polished and professional for a wide range of clients who need golf coaching..

On the downside, the billing doesn’t match the prices listed online, which can be confusing. Some visitors have also mentioned problems with staff attitude and shower maintenance, which can take a bit away from the experience.

The people were friendly and the course was very fair to play

I had a great day playing golf, I have heard about Clearwater for a long time and wasnt that bothered if I played it or not, but I was surprised how great it was. If I lived in Christchurch I would be a member, the people were friendly and the course was very fair to play. I was expecting some long, hard slog, with crowds of people like it is in Auckland, but it was very playable, not crowded to death and enjoyable.

Harewood Golf Club offers a strong training environment built around its large all-weather practice setup.

For starters, they have a 23-bay covered driving range that lets players practice without interruption, even in bad weather. 

Meanwhile, the natural grass teeing area also helps golfers get a realistic feel when they take their swing changes onto the course.

Their programs are fantastic, too, like “She Loves Golf”, and junior clinics support players of all skill levels and make training more inclusive. There’s basically steady long-term improvement.

However, some visitors reported poor customer service at check-in, with staff sometimes appearing unfriendly.

Even so, the quality of the practice infrastructure remains the main reason players continue coming back.

What a great venue. The owners are very accommodating and the driving range is lots of fun. Costa the catering extraordinaire and his team are top notch. The accommodation while it needs updating is completely serviceable and extremely convenient and comfortable. Overall had an amazing stay.

We will definitely play here again

My wife and I enjoyed our round of golf here. The on course professional was very warm and accommodating when we arrived. The fairways and greens were in good condition, and sprinklers were operating in some places. The course is fairly flat but the tree lined fairways with patches of long grass mean that accurate drives are required.

The pace of play was good, taking about 3hr 45mins when we teed off at 10.30am on a Thursday morning.

We will definitely play here again
