End result was better than I ever dreamed!
“I couldn’t recommend Nazneen and AlterMe highly enough to any future bride! From the moment we first met, I knew I’d come to the right place. Every part of my dress journey was incredibly simple, fun, and the end result was better than I ever dreamed! 🥰
I chose an Adriana Alier gown, and once that arrived, Nazneen then tweaked it to absolute perfection, and also made my veil. The bustle Nazneen created took the dress to another level, and meant I could easily dance the night away in it 🙌
Thanks again Nazneen, you are absolutely amazing at what you do, and are an absolute star of a person ❤️”

I had a wonderful experience at Alterme
“I had a wonderful experience at Alterme. With the correct alterations my wedding dress went from being something that just ticked the required boxes, to being a dress I actually felt great about wearing. It had a very long train and was heavy material so I was unsure if I would be able to dance in it – but after getting a ballroom bustle by Alterme that problem was solved. I also had my cheapie reception dress altered here too, getting a new halter neck strap added and hem done – it also turned out great. When they informed me that they would also steam my dresses for me before pick up, I had the idea to not pick it up until my actual wedding day – as my ceremony venue was just across the road (yes I walked there!). It was totally outside their normal service, but Nazneen was happy for me to get changed in one of their rooms prior to walking down the aisle 30mins later. So very grateful. I am a busy wedding celebrant and will be recommending Alterme to all my Brides. Thanks again.”

2. Alma J Bridal Boutique

Address: 131 Mount Eden Road, Mount Eden
Phone: +64 9-623-1188
Business hours:
- Monday: Closed
- Tuesday to Wednesday: 10 AM – 3 PM
- Thursday to Friday: 10 AM – 6 PM
- Saturday: 10 AM – 5 PM
- Sunday: Closed
The biggest strength we saw at Alma J Bridal Boutique was their dedicated stylist. They’ll guide you through everything from first look to final choice. It’s great if you’re not sure where to start and need someone to count on when you’re overwhelmed.
They also offer custom-made dresses by Alma Wong herself. The gowns are made by a small team of experts, which means quality and detail are top priority.
Brides who want something totally unique will love this bespoke option. You get to be part of the design process.
If custom isn’t your thing or your timeline’s too short, they’ve also got a curated selection of ready-to-wear gowns. They’ve got big names like Essence of Australia, Madi Lane, Stella York, and more.
It’s a good range—nothing too over-the-top, but definitely stylish. Bonus points for offering inclusive sizing and designs that work on different body shapes.
However, online shopping seems a little rough. One bride got a faulty sample dress and wasn’t told about the strict 3-day return policy. When she reached out, she got no reply.
I was so impressed with the level of service I received!
“Couldn’t recommend Alma J Bridal enough! Had the most beautiful experience finding my wedding dress with the help of Alma and her lovely team. I was so impressed with the level of service I received! From the very beginning, they were all so warm and welcoming, listening intently to my concerns and picking out a range of dresses to complement my body shape. The girls were so attentive, kind and patient and made the whole experience so calm and relaxing for me. Alma also did the alterations on my dress, which made it fit like an absolute dream. Thank you, Alma & the team, for making me feel so beautiful on my special day.”

I felt so special, understood and valued, and no other boutique compared
“Alma J bridal was my first experience trying on wedding gowns, and I’m so glad I chose them. I felt so special, understood and valued, and no other boutique compared. Rhianon was especially helpful, calm, and professional and kept me at ease during the appointment. I couldn’t recommend the team at Alma J Bridal Boutique enough!”

3. Bridal Brilliance

Address: 5/15 Trugood Drive, East Tāmaki
Phone: +64 9-274-8324
Business hours:
- Monday to Friday: 10 AM – 3 PM
- Saturday: 9:30 AM – 4:30 PM
- Sunday: Closed
Bridal Brilliance has a wide size range. They stock over 300 dresses in sizes 6 to 36. Plus-size brides in particular will probably feel way more seen and catered to here than in your typical boutique.
Most of their dresses are off-the-rack here. You can find a dress and leave with it that day. No waiting for months and stressful fittings.
One bride even said she walked in five days before her wedding with no appointment, and still walked out with a stunning dress.
Their dresses aren’t cheap, but they’re way more affordable than what you’ll find in high-end places. And if you’re not into keeping dresses forever, they also offer renting a designer look for a fraction of the price.
Style-wise, we noticed a lot of variety. Some dresses are traditional and elegant, while others lean more modern. We even spotted a few with romantic lace details and soft silhouettes.
While the in-store experience seems great, the online side could be tricky. One customer got sent the wrong dress and said the follow-up was a mess. They experienced slow emails and a refund process that dragged past the 30-day limit.
Lots of sizes to choose from, even up to size 22
“The best bridal shop I have been in NZ so far, with the most fun and friendly staff that truly care about your experience! Choosing the right gown can be hard, and I really enjoyed my experience there this morning. Lots of sizes to choose from, even up to size 22 and a good range of price range! So happy that I came and visit!”

Had such a wonderful experience during my bridal consultation!
“I had such a wonderful experience during my bridal consultation! Rae greeted me warmly as soon as I arrived and was incredibly helpful in selecting a beautiful range of wedding gowns in different styles. The store manager and other assistants were also lovely and added to the overall positive vibe of the visit. Thank you all for making this such a special moment in my wedding journey!”

4. Natalie Rose Bridal

Address: 237 Parnell Road, Parnell
Phone: +64 9-390-9525
Business hours:
- Monday: Closed
- Tuesday to Wednesday: 9 AM – 5 PM
- Thursday to Friday: 10 AM – 7 PM
- Saturday to Sunday: 9 AM – 5:45 PM
Natalie Rose Bridal’s boutique is known as “The Pink Palace.” It has soft lighting, velvet chairs, and chandeliers. If you want to feel like a princess for a couple of hours, this is your spot.
Appointments are one-on-one, and when you’re there, the whole place is yours. You get 90 minutes, and we’ve heard cases where they go longer if needed.
From what we’ve heard, brides are allowed to browse the dresses themselves. It’s an open invitation to explore, with expert support available when you need it.
Natalie, the owner, has left a good impression on her customers. People said she’s calm, honest, and full of good advice. She doesn’t pressure you, doesn’t oversell anything, and gives you space to feel things out, which we appreciate.
The selection is pretty top-tier. Natalie stocks big-name international designers like Vera Wang and Eva Lendel. She’s the only one in NZ carrying some of these labels.
The styles lean elegant, structured, and modern-romantic. They also have a good range of sizes.
Prices are on the higher end, though. You’re paying for designer gowns, the private setting, and the personal service. We think it makes sense, but not for those with tight budgets.
Natalie helped me find the perfect dress and suggested thoughtful additions
“My experience at Natalie Rose Bridal was absolutely incredible! From the moment I walked in, Natalie made me feel welcomed, cherished, and truly beautiful. She not only helped me find the perfect dress but also suggested thoughtful additions to make it even more special. Natalie and her team made the entire process seamless and enjoyable, ensuring that every detail was just right. On my wedding day, I felt absolutely amazing—thank you, Natalie, for making my bridal dreams come true!”

She is very knowledgeable about all her designers
“I cannot recommend Natalie Rose Bridal enough! Natalie is so amazing at what she does, and her boutique is gorgeous. She is very knowledgeable about all her designers, gowns and accessories, as well as bridal fashion in general, and is genuinely a lovely person to work with in the whirlwind of wedding prep! I had first seen my dream dress on Instagram and booked an appointment at the Pink Palace when I saw she stocked it. Natalie helped organise the alterations I wanted and was so patient through all my indecision! If you are a bride looking for a lovely wedding dress shopping experience, make sure you book a visit to see Natalie.”

5. Hera Couture

Address: 12/501 Karangahape Road, Auckland Central
Phone: +64 9-369-1988
Business hours:
- Monday to Saturday: 9 AM – 5 PM
- Sunday: Closed
Hera Couture’s personal attention to each bride stood out to us. Stylists here are experienced and genuinely invested in the journey.
Several brides mentioned being matched with a consultant who could quickly understand their style, offer thoughtful suggestions, and even anticipate their needs as the appointment progressed.
The dresses are also stunning. One of our researchers tried visiting the boutique, and she found dramatic princess styles to clean, with minimal cuts.
What’s cool is how much you can customise. They give brides creative control without making it feel stressful. If you want to change the sleeves or swap the fabric, they can accommodate that. Just make sure they have enough time to fulfil your requests.
They also get points for being body-positive. Samples come in many sizes.
That said, some brides we’ve spoken to mentioned that the space can get busy, especially on weekends. You might end up sharing the floor with a few other brides, which can make things feel a bit chaotic.
My finished dress was exactly what I wanted and made me feel so beautiful
“I have absolutely no regrets getting my wedding dress from Hera!! The whole experience was amazing & so so worth it. It was both personal, and they accommodated me and my friends/family for every appointment, even with toddlers and grandparents. There is so much detail and thought put into it, and I was able to get a custom hairpiece made to match! My finished dress was exactly what I wanted and made me feel so beautiful. The quality and craftsmanship are amazing, Jessie is incredible <3 Thank you all!”

Beautiful gowns and a professional team!
“From my first appointment 2 years ago when I first found my dress, to picking it up today, the experience with the Hera team has been seamless and so supportive. They found me my perfect dress, a one-off gown that fit all my wants in a dress. They let me try it on as many times as I wanted over the two years, and Jessie has altered the dress to absolute perfection. Could not recommend them more! Beautiful gowns and a professional team!”
